DnD Fest Update

Greetings Adventurers!

We have some exciting updates and reminders for you as we gear up for the upcoming DnD Fest. Please read through the information below and don't hesitate to reach out if you have any questions.

Finalized Character Sheets

All character sheets have been submitted and validated by your DMs. New players, as well as veteran players with new characters, now have their equipment and magic assigned according to the players' booklet. You will receive a Dropbox link within the next week or so to access your updated character sheet as well as those of your party members. If you notice any discrepancies, please bring them to your DM's attention immediately!

The War with the Raven Queen

The war against the Raven Queen has intensified over the past six months since she claimed the throne in the Feywild and declared war on the other realms. The kingdoms of Elladra, the Feywild, and the Shadow Realm have mobilized their forces, leading to widespread conflict. Factionalism is rampant, with some choosing to fight against the Raven Queen while others side with her. Rumors even suggest internal rebellion within the Shadow Realm against her rule. Stay tuned to our blog for weekly updates on the war's progression and immerse yourself in the unfolding saga!

Food, Drinks, and More!

Remember, you're welcome to bring your own drinks and snacks to the Festival. Alcohol is permitted, but please drink responsibly. Smoking is allowed only around the campfire or in the parking lot—marijuana is strictly prohibited on the premises. If you wish to smoke marijuana, please do so off-site, as it is still illegal to smoke it publicly in Ohio.

New Players!

We are thrilled to welcome about a dozen new players to this year's event! Please help them get acclimated and share your experience and knowledge. New players, if you have any questions, feel free to ask me, your DMs, or your fellow party members. We are excited to have you join our community!

Costume Contest

The DnD Fest is a great opportunity for those of you who love to get in costume to don your favorite and wear it as much as you wish! On Saturday evening, we encourage everyone to put on a costume, grab some of the libations you brought for the weekend, and join us at the Forest Inn! Have some fun with great music, games, prizes, and our annual costume contest! This year’s contest will be held during our ‘Evening at the Forest Inn’ on Friday evening. Even if you don’t want to be entered into the contest, we would love to see you in a costume! The contest categories are:

  • Most Creative

  • Scariest/Creepiest

  • Best Character Class

Additionally, we will have the Judge’s choice of “Best Overall” for a total of four winners. Prizes will be awarded to each winner. A form will be provided in your player's packet to be filled out prior to the DnD Fest for your entry. You can only enter one category.

Engage with the NPCs!

Each year, the DnD Fest features a variety of 'Live NPCs' to enhance the event. These NPCs are always there to support the players and not to deceive them. They are on 'your side' as it were. This year, we have some new NPCs. While a couple of the 'Runda' druids from prior years will still be around, new NPCs will be introduced at the Orientation. Throughout the weekend, they will help you with puzzles and sell magical assistance (using Festival Currency). We encourage you to visit the NPCs in the Encampment or at the Forest Inn! Remind your party members as well—I don’t understand it, but some veteran DnD Fest attendees may not even know about the NPCs!

The Chronicles of the Undying: Final Chapter

As you all know, the war with the Raven Queen is the focus of this last Chapter of "The Chronicles of the Undying". This complex web of politics and intrigue has culminated in this great war. It all depends on you and your comrades to determine the conclusion. Every aspect over the past four years is tied together: the isolation of the Dragonborn, the rise of the Ua' demigods, the trickery of the Raven Queen in having them destroyed in Tir na Nog, and now the war with her herself! The weekend and campaign are not pre-determined—none of us know how it will end yet. Each mission and adventure you undertake will tip the scales one way or the other towards her defeat or her success.

In addition, there is a great need to rescue the essences of the Tuatha de Dannan—the gods of the pantheon that the Raven Queen was part of but who betrayed her kin in ages past. The Chronicles of the Undying has yet to have the final chapter written, and this will be done by you and your actions. Your efforts will determine the fate of these ancient deities and the realms.

War Councils

As the war with the Raven Queen unfolds, each party will play a crucial role in shaping the outcome. After Session 1, Session 2, and Session 3, your party will choose an envoy to go to the War Council in the Command Tent within the encampment. It is here you will not only learn of how the overall war is faring, but you will choose your next mission in the war against the Raven Queen. Each envoy will be chosen after each adventure—make it a different person each time. Draw by lot or roll the dice, it doesn't matter. Each party needs to send a representative as their envoy at the appropriate time! The Command Tent will have its own refreshments as well!
